Chico, California"You should be very proud that Story passes on such good minds to his offspring. I carry this wonderful mental picture of my son Kyle at 4 yrs old and my (then) 7 month old weanling Lewy by Fairly Tall Tale. I was clipping Lewy's legs when Kyle squatted down beside me to help. Lewy was so good through the whole episode -- while Kyle actually clipped pasterns and fetlocks (with guidance and watchful care of course!) -- What a great mind Story passes on to his babies!
At our first show as a yearling, I got many great comments on Lewy's super behavior and good looks. He hauled like a veteran.
Now that he is a 2 yr old and I am riding him, I am again proud of his great mind and "want to please" attitude. I am able to do the majority of his training myself and am enjoying it very much. He takes each new idea that I present in our training sessions right in stride and tries his best to follow my lead. In fact, I love to go roping with my husband and since I had a rope handy, I decided to see how Lewy would react to the feel of it all. He wasn't even phased -- Love that mind!
I would never have been able to outright purchase a horse with his bloodlines, movement or mind; so by breeding and raising a foal by Fairly Tall Tale, I have been able to make one of the best investments in my life time. Thank you for the opportunity to breed to your stud. "

Salinas, California"I have watched Fairly Tall Tale or "Story" from the very beginning of his career. I know that he is a great individual, but my greater interest was in whether he could pass that on to his babies. One of my side interests in my practice is to try to bring two great individuals together and then watch the development of the resulting foal to see if the best traits have been passed along.
One such mare in my practice, Joyful Success, was bred to Story. I checked that foal soon after delivery and I was so impressed with the cross that I immediately called Marti to tell her about that filly. She was at that time one of the most elegant foals I had ever seen through my years of practice. She was so correct and had such great movement. She is currently in training as a 2 yr old and coming along as I had hoped and predicted. Since that time I have seen several more of Story's babies and they are all very impressive. I am currently awaiting one of his foals from my own mare!
Judging Story from a veterinarian's standpoint, I am very impressed with how well he ships. His motility is very high at the receiving end. It has been consistently easy to settle mares. I look forward to working with Story and the Retzers each breeding season."

Alvin, Texas"Jim and Marti called and asked me to evaluate Story as a yearling. As soon as I saw him jog -- I pictured myself jogging down that long white wall at the Congress. Then when he loped --I knew I had my winner! I liked that picture and obviously so did the judges!
He was the easiest horse I ever trained. He didn't ever go backwards in his training. Maybe at times he had to figure out what I was asking -- but he was always willing to try. Now as I'm working with his babies, I see that same great mind and willingness that Story has as well as his great movement.
And his babies sure are pretty!"

The thing I find most amazing is the consistent quality of these foals. The newest addition is an adorable filly. Like her brothers, she has that beautiful movement and quiet mind that Story seems to pass on to his babies. I will be anxiously awaiting the pleasure futurities of 2003!"

Livermore, California"I currently have two Fairly Tall Tale three year olds and a yearling longe liner in training and they are awesome. They have the best minds, most willing dispositions -- and can they move! Watch for them in the futurities. You'll know which ones they are as they will be in the front of the lineup."
